One, that I missed from my previous list/post

For several weeks it ruled the Tamil charts. It is the song that is frequently played on T.V from "Subramanyapuram" called "Kangal Irandal". This song reminds you of many songs notably "Chinna Kannan Azhaikiran", Illayaraja's hit from the movie "KaviKuyil". Even the flute sounds very similar to that song. Other songs "Kandal Irandal" reminds you of are "Kadhal Nerupen" from the movie Veyil and "Collegikku Povom" from the movie Kovil.

Kangal Irandal from Sumbramaniapuram is based on the Carnatic Raaga Reethigowlai and this is the reason why it resembles Chinna Kannan Azhaikiran. Others songs in Reedhigowlai are Azhagana Ratchasiye, Thalaiyai Kuniyum Thamaraye, Raman Kathai Kelungal, etc. Do a google search on Reethigowlai and you will get the rest.

Hello Aravind,

Thanks for the input. Appreciated! I missed Azhagana Ratchasiye in the list. In fact every time I heard it I found it strongly resembled Chinna Kannan. Thalaiyai Kuniyum is a revelation but it is such an unforgettable song from the movie "Oru Nadi Odaiyagirathu". Also I wrote that "Chinna Kannan" is from the movie Chittukuruvi by mistake. I will correct it. Meanwhile which movie is the song "Raman Kathai Kelungal"? Thanks for the input once again.
